Many of you will have spent the last few months sorting out your invoices ready for your self-assessment submission. If you don't use a bookkeeper and prefer to manage all your paperwork yourself.
We do suggest that now is an excellent time to start using accounting software. If you find one that works well for you can start using this from April 2020.
The advantages of using online accounting software:
- You will be able to keep a record of all income and expenditure in one place.
- Your accountant can access the information, so you don’t need to send in paperwork
- You have up to date financial information at your fingertips, so it is easier to manage your finances.
- When all businesses have to start using Making Tax Digital, you will be one step ahead of everyone else, and the transition will be smoother.
- You may save money on your accountancy bill at the end of the year if it’s quicker for the accountant to process your self-assessment online.
We are used to working with a wide range of different accounting software, so we don’t recommend any specific one. It comes down to personal choice and the type of business that you run. Here is a list of accounting software that our clients often use:
Xero - https://www.xero.com/uk/
FreeAgent - https://www.freeagent.com/
QuickBooks - https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/
Sage One - https://www.sage.com/en-gb/sage-business-cloud/accounting/
There are all very good for businesses and non-profit organisations of all sizes. From sole traders to larger limited companies. They all allow integrations with your bank feeds as well, so you can keep track of income and expenditures.
