Partnership pack: preparing for a 'no deal' EU exit

On Monday 22 October, HMRC published a Partnership Pack on GOV.UK to help businesses plan for the unlikely possibility of a ‘no deal’ EU Exit.

We have included a link for you to download this pack as it is worth being prepared well in advance if there is a ‘no deal’ EU exit as this will have an impact on your business.

The government has been implementing a significant programme of work to ensure the UK will be ready from day one in all scenarios, including a potential ‘no deal’ outcome in March 2019. The message being given is that although work is underway to prepare for a ‘no-deal scenario, this does not imply that there is an increased likelihood of a ‘no deal’ outcome.

The EU Exit pack focuses on how VAT, Customs and Excise could be affected and includes information split by topic, audience and flowcharts.

HMRC assures us that it will work closely with the industry to ensure its interventions are conducted in a way that minimises delays and additional burdens for legitimate trade, while robustly ensuring compliance. The approach of continuity does not mean that everything will stay the same, but the priority is maximising stability at the point of departure through the government’s action.

There will be further updates, and we will do our best to keep you up to date with these. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do contact us by calling 01623 490 120 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
