Louise Warden is a key team member; she joined us in 2017. Louise, a qualified accountant with AAT qualifications, plays a vital role in supporting clients with self-assessment tax returns and other accounting needs.
This blog post delves into her background, current role, the types of customers she works with, the accounting software her clients use, her approach at Watson Knipe, and what she does in her spare time.
Louise spent a significant portion of her career at Pendragon Motor Group. In her role, she handled management accounts for dealerships nationwide. Her expertise in managing large teams was honed when she oversaw 50 to 80 people in Nottingham's central office. Louise was responsible for the financial health of major brands like Ford and BMW. After taking a two-year break to care for her son, she sought a more flexible role with less responsibility for managing people. This search led her to our practice, where she found a welcoming, family-run environment.
At Watson Knipe, Louise's role has evolved significantly. Starting with payroll, VAT returns, bookkeeping, and management accounts, she now focuses primarily on personal tax. Louise manages this area almost single-handedly, ensuring that all targets and deadlines are met. She also supports one of our biggest clients, a loft room conversion company in Surrey, by providing weekly updates and handling their tax affairs. Additionally, Louise acts as a supervisor for Jane in payroll, offering support as required.
Louise works with a diverse range of clients, focusing on personal tax. Her clients include limited company directors, self-employed sole traders, doctors, and property owners. She handles everything from simple tax returns to complex cases involving multiple investments and rental properties. Despite the varying complexity of her clients' needs, Louise ensures that each receives personalised and thorough service.
Louise is well-versed in various accounting software and encourages clients to use systems that best fit their needs. While QuickBooks is often recommended, she is flexible and can accommodate other software like Xero and FreeAgent. Hammock accounting software is recommended for landlords. Louise also provides guidance to clients on how to use their chosen software effectively, ensuring it meets their requirements without unnecessary complexity or cost.
Louise's approach is centred on meeting clients' needs efficiently and effectively. She ensures prompt communication, dealing with emails and enquiries on the same day they are received. This proactive approach helps alleviate clients' stress, allowing them to focus on their businesses while she manages their accounting and tax needs. Louise values the close-knit, supportive environment at Watson Knipe, where each team member's contributions are valued, and client satisfaction is paramount.
Outside of work, Louise leads a busy life with her family in Ravenshead. She and her husband are actively involved in their community, with her husband managing the local under-10s football team and Louise serving as the treasurer for the local scout group.
Much of her free time is spent supporting her son's activities and engaging in family-oriented events. Her recent property renovation project even includes an inside-outside bar area, making her home a social hub for friends and family. Louise enjoys films and reading, with a particular fondness for John Grisham thrillers.
Louise Warden's journey from a commercial background to becoming a pivotal part of Watson Knipe showcases her adaptability and commitment to both her profession and her community. Her expertise in personal tax, proactive approach to client service, and active community involvement make her an invaluable asset to our team and a trusted advisor to our clients.
