The main news is still about Making Tax Digital, but we wanted to give a quick summary of some of the other business taxes as well so that you are aware of what may impact your business in the next tax year 2019/20.
From 1st April 2019, all VAT registered businesses with a turnover above the VAT threshold (currently £85,000) must keep digital records for purposes and provide their VAT return information to HMRC using MTD functional compatible software. The main rate of corporation tax is currently 19% and will remain at this rate for next year. The rate will fall to 17% for the Financial Year beginning on 1 April 2020.
Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance Contributions will continue as they are currently. There are no plans to make changes in this Parliament.
From 6 April 2020, non-UK resident companies that carry on a UK property business, or have other UK property income, will be charged to corporation tax, rather than being charged to income tax as at present.

Also, a new capital allowances regime will be introduced for structures and buildings.
It will be known as the Structures and Buildings Allowance and will apply to new non-residential structures and buildings. Relief will be provided on eligible construction costs incurred on or after 29 October 2018, at an annual rate of 2% on a straight-line basis.
